Year in review: 2025

2025 marked the end of an important year for Ghemu Farm.

This year became the true starting point of the project. The idea had been present earlier, and the first tea seeds were planted in December 2024, but those early attempts did not result in viable seedlings. The work gained real structure and direction in 2025.

The first two tea plants arrived from a plant nursery in June 2025. Practical work with the plants began immediately, including daily care and close observation. Five additional tea plants joined them in August. The total number of tea bushes reached seven by the end of the year.

The nursery confirmed that the plants were approximately four to five months old at the time of delivery. This information places their first full year of growth around February 2026. The plants were grown from seed rather than cuttings. This method means each plant will develop its own characteristics. Tea plants grown from seed can produce noticeably different flavour profiles, even when they originate from the same parent plant.

The first harvest suitable for tasting is not expected before 2028. This timeline defines the pace of the work ahead. Long-term attention, patience and careful observation will be essential.

Work on tea plants did not replace other plans.

The idea of producing traditional family preserves, jams and fruit drinks remained central throughout the year. Preparation became a priority before any production began. Time went into sourcing reliable suppliers and building strong relationships. Ingredient quality represents more than half of the final result for this type of work.

Recipe testing with local ingredients began in December 2025. These tests formed the foundation for future production. The fruit and vegetable seasons of early 2026 will allow this work to develop into a more regular and structured process.

2025 became a year of preparation, evaluation, trial and error. The year did not focus on finished products or public launches. The work focused on building a foundation. This process reflects the path of growth we chose, and we are glad to move forward at this pace.
